Castanhal participates in Inspiramais 2021_II

August 28 2020
The  100% digital edition of the Exhibit shows the different segments that jute is a sustainable, organic and biodegradable fiber

Companhia Têxtil de Castanhal, sustainable since 1966, is the largest manufacturer of jute products in the Americas, and will be one of the highlights of the online edition of Inspiramais 2021_II, the only Design and Material Innovation Exhibit for fashion, which will take place on August 25, 26, and 27, from 10:00 a.m. to 08:00 p.m. Visitors can access the edition of Inspiramais through the link: www.inspiramais.com.br

During the event, Castanhal will highlight the products of natural yarns and canvas with natural dyes, 100% jute.

“Castanhal's participation in Inspiramais is always very important, as each edition at the Exhibit reinforces our position in presenting fashion inputs with less impact and with high social and cultural value, through our support to riverside families who cultivate jute on the banks of the Amazon and Solimões rivers”, Maurício Vasques points out, commercial and marketing manager at Castanhal.
Another action from Castanhal at the event will be the partnership with Luciano Pinheiro design, which develops products with pigments, weaves and natural inputs of high handicraft refinement aimed at fashion accessories, clothing and decoration.

Through Inspiramais, the design participates in the Creative and Commercial Connection project, and develops specific actions with major brands.

"Castanhal´s choice of textiles, in my opinion, is precisely because it is a natural fiber, internationally certified, which causes less impact on nature, generates a circular economy, is concerned with handling and, above all, values people. I believe that jute has a very high added value”, says Luciano.
The natural dye for the jute is prepared by Luciano which consists of onion, barbatimão [stryphnodendron adstringents], Brazilian peppertree, hibiscus, peels and leaves. In this edition, Luciano developed natural dyes in Castanhal weaves and textiles, in addition to creating a line of sustainable insoles in different colors. Companies will be able to choose the color, pattern of the textile and the shape of the insole, which will be delivered promptly to the customer.

Jute, 100% sustainable
With over 50 years of activity and the largest producer of jute fiber yarns and fabrics in the country, Companhia Têxtil de Castanhal is headquartered in the city of Castanhal (PA). It supports thousands of riverside families that make their living exclusively from jute, on the banks of the Solimões and Amazon rivers. With its planting fully integrated into the Amazon Biome - jute is grown in the floodplain of the rivers and its fiber is 100% sustainable in planting, processing and disposal - it contributes to maintaining the Amazon Forest while generating income for thousands of people, establishing them and avoiding extraction.

Castanhal offers the market a quality and versatile raw material, without causing vegetation fires or deforestation and without using pesticides, herbicides or fungicides, with natural fertilization made using the humus left by the floods of the Amazon rivers. The softening process of the jute fiber does not use chemicals and it is softened with vegetable oils from the palm tree (cactus). When disposed, it does not leave behind residues in the environment. Circular and Social Economy throughout entire the process! All of this grants Castanhal worldwide certifications, which are: Fairtrade (sustainable, fair and solidary trade), BCS Öko Garantie for planting within the organic precepts and the Pesticide Free seal.
